Plague League

Two Weeks Left in Monday Night Magic Season 4

The long grind is almost over, as the final Monday Night Magic seasons of the 2020 calendar year is almost here. League officials have completed a long-overdue audit of the season’s results, and season 4 stats are up to date.

After 14 events and 7 weeks of play, rookie contender Matthew “MDSoccer35″ Davis” leads the way with 101 points (33-17-2) and 3 pod wins. Davis is 14 points clear of second place Christopher “RezedentGenius” Hammer, who’s on the outside looking in at 87 points. Christopher’s brother Travis “naseth79” Hammer makes their first appearance on the MNM leaderboard, placing 7th with two weeks to go.

Michael “Mooch” Mucciolo and Dave “fantomasdaveMX” Carrera are tied for third with 54 points.

So far in seasons 4, 64 players have played at least one match. six have played at least half the available pods, and we went over 1,000 matches played for the calendar year.

With a strong performance tomorrow, Matthew could lock down the third consecutive Double Double (Overall Championship & Rookie of the Season Championship), joining Dave Carrera and Lucas Garofolo.

Next week’s season finale will be the last MNM event of 2020. Plague League competitive play will go on hiatus for the month of December. This is to give players a chance to recover from a long 2020 season, and also recognize that holidays are more important to many people than playing Magic. We will remain active, and the Discord server will always be available for deck building sessions and kitchen table play.

There are two changes coming to Monday Night Magic for 2021, which will relaunch in January. The year will be broken into 4 seasons, Spring, Summer, Fall & Winter. We will also be reverting to a one pod per week format. That pod will trigger at 7PM Eastern time.

Thank you to everyone who has taken part in our Monday Night Magic series. Good luck and have fun tomorrow night.
